The GGN and TRACEABILITY GLOBAL G.A.P Number (GGN)

The GGN and TRACEABILITY GLOBAL G.A.P Number (GGN)

is a 13-digit number identifying each producer in the GLOBAL G.A.P database. GGN can be seen on several food packages.

In fresh produce business, GGN is designed to improve traceability for trading partners, fresh produce exporters, fresh produce importers and consumers in regards to locating farm locations. GLOBAL G.A.P Number allows buyers, distributors or consumers to track fresh produce origin. The GGN system provides complete access of producer’s registration and current status data.

Apart from supplying BL document (Bill of Landing), phytosanitary certificate, packing list and custom documentation, GGN is very critical information when exporting to Europe as the traceability of products is compulsory. European importers will require fresh produce exporters to supply detailed information of proof of certified farm origin. To meet such requirement, a unique traceability code such as a lot number or GLOBAL G.A.P. Number (GGN) must be able to provide.

Simply enter the GGN in GLOBAL GAP Database, fresh produce distributors or retailers can verify whether the produce is safe to consume and sustainable or not. As a consumer, the GGN can be used to verify whether the produces were farmed from a certified producer or not.
